First off, I love Coach Watch Wednesday. I think there are some great coaches that will get highlighted in the next few weeks. Let's look for a recruiter. We need players. Our demise has been the rise of Rutgers and even UConn because they are getting the recruits.
But let's focus on this weekend. Akron is a 5 pt underdog. If this game is played in Akron, they become a 2 pt favorite. Is SU really this bad? We aren't even going to destroy Akron. It's ugly and Robinson needs to go.
I think you need to make a section of Robinson's quotes each week. His quotes are hilarious. They get torched by Northwestern but Robinson thinks they are on the right track. Here are a few.
On the defense
'Well get it fixed this week, he said. I know we will. What happens when you don't. What are you going to say then?
On the game I was encouraged by different things, Robinson said during his weekly press conference Tuesday. As a whole, I truly believe in so many ways this team can improve, and I mean in a hurry. No kidding. Improvements are everywhere. The stats below support the only one direction this team can go.
The below stats are courtesy of Donnie Webb. We aren't starting off strong.
Category/National Ranking/Yards or Points per game Rushing offense 2008: 76th, 122.0 2007: 118, 62.75 2006: 97, 106.92 2005: 105, 106.55
I'm not trying to sound crazy here, but I think its very possible we lose this week. Against Akron! How is that even possible? Less than 10 years ago we went to the Dome upset we had to watch a horrible game when we would play a team like Akron (or Rutgers!) and blow them out in the first half in a totally uncompetitive game. The Dome would be half empty by halftime.
Now the Dome will be half empty at KICKOFF and we might very well lose to Akron. No program has fallen faster, ever.
I'm not sure whats a more interesting line, SU favored by 5, or the Attendance over/under at 35,000 thousand.
