Well that was an abomination. The only thing more insulting was hearing G-Rob saying "I saw some good things in that first half" in the post-game interview. Isn't that lovely. You know what I'd like to have seen? A competitive game against a lower-tier Big Ten team. Don't insult our intelligence, Greggers.
Put me on the Turner Gill bandwagon. Did you see how UB dismantled UTEP on Thursday night? He's not going to Nebraska anytime soon, now that Pelini is in place. Plus, Cantor would love the high-minded idea of hiring a minority head coach.
Let the campaign for "The Program Turner" begin. -OrangeTobacco
With Coach Watch Wednesdays now in full swing, I smell a Turner Gill entry coming up VERY soon... you think Dr. Doom should be concerned all 14 U-Buff fans are more optimistic about their program that the Orange faithful?
I'll put in my $.02 for Oregon OC Chip Kelly for Coach Watch Wednesday. His offense is a proven success, he came from New Hampshire, and he knows the Northeast well. As I've always said: the only way to make Syracuse football relevant again is to play to the Carrier Dome's strengths. Let's import a coach who can run the Mike Leach-style offense, and go 5 wides and an empty backfield on every down. We have the perfect Petri dish in the Carrier Dome (indoor + turf = fast), plus no other school plays that style of offense in the Northeast. It's a built-in recruiting advantage. We might not win, but we'd put points on the board and fans in the seats. I'd rather lose an entertaining game 52-42 than watch another G-Rob Blunderfest.
And anybody who says that kind of offense turns its back on "The Legend of 44," please. Going 7-29 in 3+ seasons desecrates a legacy much more.
